We, the Burke-Gallon Family who have our roots in the quaint little settlement of Monticello, Florida, do pledge allegiance of loyalty and love to our relatives both near and far.
As we look back over our lives, we think of our Mothers and Fathers. And as kids, how we needed to lean on them. Our Aunts and Our Uncles - All of those hugs and kisses and the kind things they would do for and say to us.
Then the thought of going to Grandma’s house, that little piece of cake, pie, bread or anything - it really made us feel our Grandma Patsy and Aunt Rosa really loved us. And to hear our Grandmother say how we have really grown, it seems like that was only yesterday.
Now we are the Mothers and Fathers, Uncles and Aunts, Grandmothers and Grandfathers, Great Grandmothers and Great Grandfathers, Great-Great Grandmothers and Great-Great Grandfathers, and even Great-Great-Great Grandmothers and Grandfathers. Just like we looked up to them - our children, our nieces and nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and great-great-great grandchildren look up to us.
Now, can we handle this? It was only yesterday we were children, but yesterday is today and tomorrow is not promised.
We are all an accumulation of not only our life experiences, but those who were our ancestors and those who are our family members now. On this occasion, we recognize and celebrate the contributions that our ancestors have made to us and the world.
